My name is Wayne White. I am one of only a few hundred Board Certified Master Arborists in the country, and an industry leader in effective early treatment for the Emerald Ash Borer. I have been successfully treating for this insect since 2002.  My customers are located throughout the lower half of Michigan as well as the Toledo and Bowling Green area of Ohio, the entire suburbs of Chicago, and as of last year, the City of Cedarburg, Wisconsin. The treatments I use have been proven effective by MSU.  One of my very public sites, the Oakland County International Airport in Waterford, MI is featured in chapter 8 of an on line video about the Emerald Ash Borer.  You can find this video at www.treeresearch.org.  it is narrated by Dr Dave Roberts of MSU.  He discovered this insect in 2002 and has visited first hand many of my successful treatment sites.  Thousands of trees are being kept alive due to my efforts!

My two most prominent and successful sites are the Somerset Collection in Troy, Michigan, and the aforementioned Oakland County International Airport in Waterford, Michigan.  Combined, these sites have nearly 450 healthy Ash trees that are thriving in an area where thousands of city ash trees have died and been removed.  Please see the "Pictures" portion of my website for photos and more information!

In 2009 I also was awarded two major contracts - The entire citires of Cedarburg, Wisconsin and Fort Wayne, Indiana. It is clear that if you were to talk with the City Foresters in either of these cities that my expertise in successfully treating for Emerals Ash Borer has gathered national attention.

EAB treatments are possible because of arborists I partner with in the following cities: Green Bay, WI; Minneapolis, MN; Columbus, Dayton, and Cincinnati Ohio as well as the surrounding area of northern Kentucky. Contact me ASAP if you have Ash trees in these areas so that we can set up treatment for this spring!

I am licensed and currently treating Ash trees in Michigan, the Chicago area of Illinois, northern Ohio and Indiana.  Columbus, Ohio is an area where treatments are possible because of arborists I partner with in that city.  Contact me ASAP if you have Ash trees in the Columbus area so that we can set up treatment for this spring!

If you are in the Chicago area there have been many recently discovered infestations the last two years.  This insect is very hard, if not impossible, to detect in the early stages of infestation.  In other words I cannot tell if your particular tree has been attacked by this insect until it has been in it for 2-3 years.  You should be concerned if you live within a 15 mile radius of a known infestation.  It is likely that by the time they discover these new areas, that the insect may have been present there for 3-5 years or longer.  Certainly if you are within 6-8 miles, then this insect is literally at your doorstep.  If you have ash trees that are important to you and you do not want to lose them, then you will need to do something about it soon.  PREVENTATIVE Treatments are the key to successfully saving your ash trees!

To know how close this insect is to threatening your ash trees you can find a detailed list of Confirmed Infested Locations at the Illinois Department of Agriculture's website found at www.illinoiseab.com.

Since 2002, I have been telling everyone that IMIDACLOPRID would work on Emerald Ash Borer!  Even in the beginning, when there was no scientific evidence yet available, I was steadfast in my belief that this preventative program would work.  I had confidence in this treatment because I was seeing first-hand results!  While leading efforts to save the ash trees, I sat on the Emerald Ash Borer Committee for the Michigan Green Industry Association (MGIA).  Combining my efforts with those of other leading arborists on this committee, allowed the MGIA to be successful in spreading the word to homeowners that treatment options are available.

Contact me with your name and address!  As one of this country's few Board Certified Master Arborists, I will see that your property is both visited and inspected for the Emerald Ash Borer. The visit will go as follows:

  1. All Ash trees on your property will be identified.
  2. The current level of Ash Borer damage will be assessed.
  3. You will be provided with several options of treatments and a recommendation specific to your property.
  4. All efforts will be made to help clear-up any misconceptions or conflicting information you may have concerning the Emerald Ash Borer. Many people do NOT realize that IMIDACLOPRID is now proven to be effective in controlling this insect.  Arborists have known this fact for years , and we have seen thousands of treated ash trees survive while untreated trees nearby have died.  Visit my "Pictures" section for visual PROOF!
  5. If treatment is recommended, you will receive a quote to treat your trees in the most safe, advanced, and cost-effective method available!
Treatment often involves the tree being injected with "Pointer" insecticide with the "Wedgle" tree injection system.  The active ingredient is IMIDACLOPRID.   In addition to this trunk injection, trees will need a soil injection with IMIDACLOPRID and various fertilizers and bio-root stimulants to keep the tree as healthy as possible. When necessary an additional spray with Onyx in mid May to June will also reduce the adult population and consequently reduce the egg laying on the trees as well as target other clear wing borers that are also bothering your ash.
