The Somerset Collection in Troy has over 285 Ash trees still alive even though the City of Troy had Ash Trees in the medians surrounding the Mall left untreated. 100% of all the untreated City Ash trees have died and been removed but Somerset's trees are thriving and growing. A real testiment to the fact that treatments can work even in a high infestation area. Somerset has been treating since 2003 even though the infestation was already on the property when we started.

Beautiful Patmore Ash along Airport Rd in Waterford Michigan stand alive and unaffected though more than 1000 trees died in the neighborhood to the north as pictured in the next photo.

All Ash trees in the neighborhood just north of the Oakland County Airport in Waterford were left untreated and have all died.

The interior islands at the Oakland International airport in Waterford Michigan stand as the most incredible example of success. These Patmore Ash are awesome and have grown from 4-5" trees five years ago to 9-10" trees today. Though they show the scars of EAB damage, they have survived and are beautiful. These trees have been the focus of Detroit Free Press Articles and a feature article in the Landsculptor magazine.

The Ice Skating Rink by the Oakland International Airport treated in 2002 but abandoned treatment after that. The trees stayed alive for maybe two years and have all died and today are removed.

Green Ash being treated by myself at Waterford Kettering High School. Tree was alive and thriving until it was hit by lightning in a storm. A very sad ending as it had to be removed for safety reasons.

A perfect example of why sometimes we do not know how long we need to treat. This customer has the last Ash tree in their subdivision but they bought a cord of firewood legally from within the quarantine and have it stacked right under their ash tree. Sure enough as the next picture shows it is full of infested Ash wood. No one did anything wrong as wood was moved only within the quarantine. We need to be careful in the future.

Clearly shows the Ash infested wood in the cord of wood bought in the previous picture.

The Oakland Troy Airport in Troy Michigan again shows all Green Ash are alive and thriving while a Green Ash on the neighbor's property was not treated and is totally dead. You can keep your trees alive even if your neighbor does not treat. Examples are everywhere.

  • 10 9394

Once again side by side picture of trees being treated by one neighbor and not by another. Treated trees are thriving and alive. Untreated are dead. These trees are in Troy, Michigan where the City cut down most of the 18,000 street tree Ash that they had.

Beautiful live Green Ash treated on the right at Bretton Village in Trenton. Ash on the left were left untreated by the city and are dead.

  • 12 9320

Identical trees treated in a West Bloomfield subdivision. Five years ago everyone treated their trees on this street but a couple of neighbors convinced many of them that the trees were going to die anyways so all but two people stopped treating. All the trees have died except the two who continued treating and those are still alive today and grown from 4" diameter to 10". You can see one neighbor has not cut their dead trees down just yet.

Grand Blanc customer has a favorite White Ash on left that was treated. A Green Ash was left untreated on the right and has died.

  • 14 9110

Two Green Ash kept alive in hard hit Hartland Michigan and thrived over the last four years. You can see the devastation along the river in the background. Literally hundreds of trees are dead along the river in the back of property.

This granddaddy of all Ash trees is about 70 years old and was transplanted by the owner's grandfather in 1957. It is growing on top of a natural spring and gets all the water it could ever want. It is also growing along the Clinton River and hundreds of dead trees are all around it. The next picture gives you some perspective of the 46" trunk.

  • 16 9358

That is a four ft tall wagon wheel for perspective. This is an awesome tree that makes this whole house and as the tree has been in the family for generations it is loved and irreplaceable. Some comments have been made that larger trees are not being saved by treatments. Some of my most spectacular saves are the big grandaddies of them all. This tree literally occupies the entire back yard. No one picture can do it any justice.

  • 17 9098

This is the largest Ash I am treating - a three trunk tree that has grown together for a combined diameter of nearly 60" on a lake in Waterford. It was struggling a little three years ago but has fully recovered and is the pride and joy of its owners who have now totally remodeled the house around this tree.

  • 18 9286

Green Ash heavily hit at the time of first treatment four years ago. Splits in the trunk are numerous but we kept steadfastly treating and the trees are recovering and the wounds healing. The canopy has never been fuller and the customer is thrilled with his trees.

Three White Ash marked for removal by Novi foresters three years ago. Only my tagging them as being treated by an arborist kept them from the chain saw. Today they are 8-9" beauties still with considerable bark damage that is healing rapidly. Only these Ash and the ones next door were spared. Hundreds of others that could have been treated were removed on just this street and little tiny trees are in their place. Everyone sees these Ash trees when they drive down the street. A testiment to what could have been if more people listened.

Spectacular White Ash tree treated early by this customer. Most others in this subdivision did not treat at all or did not treat timely and all of the other Ash have perished. Also behind this house in Utica Michigan is a river with Green Ash dead everywhere.

  • 21 9115

This 23" Green Ash stands in defiance of the 20 ash trees that already were cut down on this property along the wetlands in the back. Ash Borer was clearly in this tree but four years of treatments have rid the tree of insects and the fertilization has recovered the tree to better shape than it was in when it all started.

Beautiful Green Ash alive with treatments up by Holloway Resevoir in Davison. Streets are lined with dead ash on the road to the resevoir.

  • 23 9066

Beautiful White Ash alive in a devastated neighborhood due to treatments.

  • 24 9076

Beautiful Green Ash alive in Grand Blanc.

  • 25 9298

A gorgeous White Ash alive in Washington township today devastated by EAB. However, this customer has this White Ash and five other larger Green Ash all alive and thriving.

  • 26 9346

A subdivision in Clinton Township is right across from a devastated Green Ash woods along the Clinton River. Ash Borer are everywhere but the Ash in the commons area have survived very well. THEY HAVE BEEN TREATED FOR TWO YEARS NOW.
